Susan Watson
My name is Susan Watson. I grew up in a small country town by the ocean and began my photography journey in high school. My teacher didn't know much about photography so I learnt by making mistakes! I fell in love with taking and developing photos so I moved to a better equipped high school followed by university where I could explore my passion further. I still remember my first SLR camera, an Olympus OM-10, in fact I think I still have it hidden away.
In my late forties I learnt that perfectionism had been holding me back so I left my teaching profession and embraced my true passion as an artist. I enjoy looking at composition, texture and contrast and I find nature is constantly inspiring and surprising me. I explore how we are connected to nature spiritually and aesthetically. Whilst photography is my main passion I also love sculpture. My sculptures are inspired by using what is around us, instead of throwing things to landfill, I re-purpose them to create art. I currently reside in regional Victoria with my family.
